Brighton Fringe 2017

Ben’s 2017 exhibition at Gallery 40 Brighton refined the Containment work, with more complex layering, spatial relationships, metallic finishes and colour. Areas of void started to appear between the fields. The brushed silver gilt frames are windows onto abstract landscapes.

But where there is containment there is always a counter-force that resists: a circle that drifts away, an edge that decays or a block that tips off-kilter.

In some paintings, those opposing forces rip right through the canvas. These are the Cracks, in their matt-black frames. In the newly emerging 'mechanisation' paintings containment becomes kinetic.

Three paintings still available to buy. Quality digital prints also available. Prices on enquiry.
